I have had my Vsonic GR07s for over 3 years now and they're now starting to break on me. I'm pretty sure area by the plug in part is loose and it sometimes cuts out.
 
So it worth it to just recable the whole thing from BTG audio or just upgrade? I'm a poor student so I only have something like $250 to upgrade with.
 
I'm worried about shipping costs as I live in Canada just to ship to the US in order to recable would be pretty pricey.

The successor, the VSD7 should be coming in the next month, but I don't know how long you want to wait or if you have backups.

Oh that's perfect, are they around the same price as the GR07s?

They're supposed to be $180-$200, same price range as the original.

Why not replace the plug?  An iron and solder is cheap.
Just make sure it's not the jack on your source.

My only concern is not knowing which wires to solder to which parts of the jack.
 
Ordered the Neutrik NTP3RC looks like BTG audio uses the same one too.

neutrik is a good plug, the link you provided is good info and when you do it you'll say "that was easy!"
