I was wondering if anyone here works a professional level government job and had thoughts on a private to government move. If you have some input, please share.

Government work is the best thing that's happened to me ever since sex. I used to work in the computers & electronics industry, then I got a fulltime job at Canada Customs a couple years ago. Best career move I ever made. Great benefits (healthcare, dental, pension, etc.), guaranteed job security, and decent pay. I could be making more money at my old jobs, but here, it's a lot less stressful and I don't have to worry about being laid off on short notice.

Basically, I traded off earning potential & stress for job security, benefits, and bureaucracy. I think it's a decent trade.
