These are exactly what I was looking for. I am completely 100% pleased with them and their ridiculous bass. Senn and grado has nothing on beyerdynamic in my opinion.

I'm glad you like them! I'm currently trying to decide between some Beyers (either 770 or 880) or some Denon AH-D2000s. Have you heard the Denon's at all, and if so how would you compare them? Also, what source are you hearing your beyers out of?

I haven't listened to the denons but I've owned quite a few grados and senns. I haven't heard the DT880 but I used to have the 990 and loved them. Only reason I got the 770's are because they're closed, and now that I have them I like them just as much if not more.

Yea, i'm in the market for a good set of closed cans cuz my gf doesn't like hearing my music while we do hw, lol. Are you using an amp, or what are you listening to them out of?

Right now my laptop is driving them and to be honest it's just fine. I use my receiver as an amp, which it does quite well, but I haven't tried plugging the 770's into that yet. I got them like a half our ago, but for me that's enough time to make a decision on them (I've owned probably 40 different headphones and IEM's so I'm used to analyzing them). The 770's aren't perfect but I like how they sound.

Congrats, DT 770s are awesome.

Adding an amp made a tremendous difference for me.

The 990 is open. The 990 has less bass (but still a lot and it's clean) and a bit more of a smooth sound. the 990 is a lot harder to drive well, especially out of a laptop or DAP. I guess most discerning listeners would say the 990's sound better but I would just get whatever you want more, closed or open.

Completely agree, but the bass in the DT990 is a lot better overall and hits harder and has the same deepness.... And for me, it is very tolerant to "BUMPs" in that area than the DT770pro (The driver distorts easily when there is decent to much use of low bass and sound boomy when there is decent to heavy midbass in a song or movie). However they were excellent, when i use them the first time (and after) with my Arietta amp (it drives better this headphone than the DT990). Was a really big improvement than when i had the PA2V2 amp....

It appears to be a joke, directed to the original poster, about his first post in this thread.
