tubes:
1) SP PPX3
2) Raptor

ss:
3) Emmeline HR-2
4) Headroom GS1

get more money and go for:
5) MPX3
6) MPX3 SE or Supra?

I use the local equivalent of a 59avi (a 969avi here) and don't much like the sound of it - thin, colourless, uninvolving - so I use it as a transport with a Benchmark DAC1 into a Meier Prehead, and the combination is outstanding. It also sounds good with the SR-71 substituted for the Prehead, so I would expect an HR-2 to be a great combination as well. However, I do not think the audio output of the 59avi is good enough on its own to justify the more expensive amps.

Interesting that noone recommended tubes. Likely already sweet and soft source doesn't mix well with them.

Ross, aftermarket power cable really improves 59-avi sound.
