If you're okay with Jazz, you might want to try 'Kind of Blue' an album by Miles Davis. Hope you have the right headphones for the job because trumpet/sax can be quite piercing if you don't.
Get the Columbia release version which has a bonus 6th track, an alternate take of 'Flamenco Sketches'.
Any minimalist composers like Philip Glass or Steve Reich - repetitive, hypnotic music that will lull you to sleep! That's not to say it's bad, I like that sort of music!

Dead Can Dance, "A Passage In Time"
Emiliana Torrini, "Love In The Time Of Science"
I LOVE both of these albums, and listen to them often (sitting up) without falling asleep. But when I lay down with one of them on (and I want to sleep), the thoughts and images that come to me lead me gently and firmly to a peaceful sleep. Both albums have worked reliably for me for years now. Dead Can Dance works better for me when I'm keyed up. Emiliana Torrini works better for me when I'm already more relaxed. BTW, I wish Emiliana would make another album. (Careful what you wish for - Just read on Emiliana's Official Website that her new album is being scheduled for release toward the end of January 2005. Woo-hooOOoo!!!)
