More than a year ago my AudioSmile modded Behringer SRC2496 became a boat anchor, or so I thought. When using the analog outs, the DAC starts cycling rapidly through the 16/20/24 bit word length options and makes the music unlistenable.
Fast forward to today.....have been debating buying a solid state head phone amp. Noticed the AudioSmile unit has a headphone ouput. Nothing tried, nothing gained, so I hook it up to a digital source, plug the phones in....wallah.... the word length cycling issue doesn't exist for the headphone output!!!!
