I want to upgrade for my apple earbuds and buy the best earbuds I can get for under 35-40$. I mainly listen to Guns n' Roses, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters, AC/DC and others. Please help

depends on the model... but for a great budget phone id get the philips she9700 for around $20 which will outperform most with its clean sound and great bass.

I also like the Panasonic RPHJE450 and the Sony MDR-EX210B.
 
The HJE450 is ported though, so it doesn't isolate so well. It has 12.5 mm drivers and a very ergonomic shape for a great fit. It has decent detail and nice bass. The EX210B has 13.5mm drivers for even more deep bass that sounds natural.

Try Yuin earbuds or the PAA-1pro. I have the PAA-1pro which I got for a review and they are not bad as long as they fit your ear. The soundstage and the bass extensions are great for an earbud. I have't tried the Yuin but they are rated as amongst the best ear buds. Best to audition both if you can.
