Namely a 99 chevy lumina. I already got door speakers and a head unit, want to see about an and amp and woofers...but I don't have a clue...

You could always go for some Dynaudio car speakers. A good stereo setup in the front doors is very nice sounding and has a very good price to ratio if sound quality is the most important for you. You can always go for something able to put out more SPL by using drivers in the back and a sub, but you'll be listening to vibrations instead of music, given a small budget under 1000$.

Audiobahn subs are great for the price, but usually require some hefty power to run them. I would suggest some Bazooka Triangles here Amazing sub for cheap and my friend has 4 of them he hit a 146.6 db running all 4 on 250 watts.
