New Head-Fier
Hello,
I have a Sony SCD-XA5400ES CD Player and Sennheiser HD-650 headphones, which I'm currently plugging into the Sony's headphone jack.
The combination sounds quite good, but of course it could always sound a little better. My question is whether I can expect an improvement in sound from a high-quality headphone amp.
The CD player is fully capable of driving the headphones, and that's where the uncertainty comes in...most of the information about headphone amps I can find says they improve sound when the source component is unable to drive the headphones well enough. But can they actually improve the sound if output power isn't an issue? Or is it best to have as few items in the signal path as possible?
This is my first post on this forum, and thanks in advance.
