Well, my wallet just caved in and bought a ZERO AMP/DAC. I've been resisting that urge for some time.
What I'm looking for now is a good amp to compliment it. From what i've read, the ZERO is a good DAC but leaves a bit to be desired in the amp department. I've also read that SS amps and Tube amps sound quite different. So, I'm probably looking for a tube set to compliment this, using the Zero as the DAC for that, and using the ZERO standalone for other headphones.
headphones i'd be looking to drive:
Beyerdynamic DT-880 - Current set
AKG K240S (they come tomorrow, thanks mjb! doubt they need much amping)
AKG K701 - Future Purchase
Senn HD600
Denon D2000
price range: quite honestly, the range will go up until I just can't take it anymore and have to upgrade
lets say anywhere from $300 to $2500 for suggestions, cheaper the better, but if the sweet spot is in the upper echelons of that price range, I guess I will be saving for a bit
I've been looking at little dot and Darkvoice, but as you probably realize from the purchase I just made and the post you are reading, I know about as much about amps as Michael Jackson does about good parenting.
