Looking for suggestions on a pair of good active monitors, preferably small, for $2K max. So far, I'm been looking @ QUAD 12L, ATC monitors (too big in my opinion), and Genelec.

Any other brands I should be looking into?

The Adam A7 (A7) is not big and sounds really good. The Yamahas are also well regarded.

Dynaudio BM5A or BM6A has got to be on the consideration list.

Focal CMS50 ($1200)

If you just want something for music, the $2500 Dynaudio Focus Active should be on your list (not sure if you can find a set for under $2K)

At that budget, I would definitely look into Dynaudio, Quad, and ADAM.

Don't forget the NHT M-00's, need the S-20 sub to really hear the bas end though.

seriously though i've never heard another monitor that even comes close; yes even dynaudio
