I have this:

I really like it, particularly the Tenebrae string quartet and the Three Songs for Soprano and Orchestra, especially "Night of the Flying Horses."

What other Golijov pieces/recordings should I seek out?

Thanks,
Bryan

Hi,

I particularly like:

- Aidamar
- Yiddishbbuk
- The Dreams and Prayers of Isaac the blind

The last two are for String quartet. I also like his Passion segun San Marcos and Ayre.

Though the first three are my favorites.

I heard a performance of Aidamar a few months ago. Very, very powerful emotionally. And a lot of fun, too. Very different -- not exactly Verdi or Puccini to be sure.

His Passion is uneven to be sure, but it has some great moments. I'd recommend it.

I've just discovered Ayre and I'm not sure about it yet. Parts of it (especially the Jewish techno sounds) make me uncomfortable, which is, of course, not necessarily a bad thing... but I don't love it yet either.
