I am old 43 and I have never been to a concert till this weekend. Going to see NIN. I have been following them since 89 when I heard them on the local radio station and was hooked since then. I am excited for this opportunity and I love my wife for actually finding seats for us for the show.

Who and how was your first concert?

Warped Tour, maybe 20 years ago. Not long after, I saw Dave Matthews at Farm Aid, and Natalie Imbruglia and Billy Joel in Manhattan for free.

Last was Journey, Heart, and Cheap Trick a few years ago at Bethel Woods.

Despite the flaws and inconvenience of going to a concert, it’s the best or most powerful musical experience. There is something special about living in the moment of a powerful performance. Capturing that great moment when you’re there can never be replaced by a recording

I’ve been fortunate to seeing hundreds and hundreds of concerts in many venues and different cities. The memories are precious.

One of the cool things is sometimes if it’s a small venue, you can accidentally bump into the performers or see them somewhere in the area. Sometimes the security is relaxed and you can meet the musicians back stage or in a back ally and say hello.

I can relate to that. My FIRST rock concert was the Liverpool 5 at the Spokane Coliseum back in 1965...went with a "girlfriend" whose mom worked for the local newspaper and got tickets. (she chaperoned us...we were in the 5th grade)
Got to see Jethro Tull numerous times over the years in the 70's. They always put on a great show.

Lallapaloosa was great back in the days. Peak alternative music days. Yeah, after the 80's we needed an alternative. lol God I luv this culture. They luv to point out the $23 t-shirt rip-offs. Gen-X baby!

Aged 41 now, I went to my first concert when I was a teenager with my mum for her beloved singer Engelbert Humperdinck. Fortunately I went there with her because I do not have such chance anymore.

This concert was nuts. So many things happened that weekend. Trent was interviewed at the R&R HoF, Nitzer Ebb (never heard of them till this weekend pretty good), Ministry (not a fan at all) Then we got 23 songs nearly straight through with not much of a break between. All of the old Band members came on stage for the last 3 songs. Richard Patrick was there NIN covered Filters - Hey Man Nice Shot while he sung it, then he sung Head Like a Hole with Trent. Copy Of A was crazy with how they handled the lights with it pretty trippy.

All in all, some times it is ok to meet your hero's or at least listen to their music in real life

Emerson, Lake and Palmer at the Spectrum in Philadelphia in 1971. I went to a number of others over the years. I eventually stopped because I was the one that always drove and that got old. Everyone would fall asleep on the ride home but me, fortunately.
