and how much yen do d-66s usually run for anyways?

Well, it's a mediocre match (and it's not the phones fault) but you could consider the Audio-technica ATH-D1000 for your iHP-120. You should be able to pick it up for less than 52,000 yen if you shop around.

the MDR-D66 were 9000 yen or so when I was there (just got back two days ago).

maybe slightly more, but under 10,000 yen.

there must be a few earphones or portable headphones that came out within the past few months, but I didn't really pay much attention and don't really know. all I know is there wasn't anything really new (other than like the QUALIA 010) in the expensive headphone category.

only a STAX Omega II and the Accuphase DP-85.

there were some others like the ATH-CM7, MDR-EX71, MDR-G74... but they are cheap and don't really count.

Err.. a ticket to Japan maybe?

(J/K)

Actually I would buy the original Japanese release of the soundtrack of "Ghost in the Shell", probably the original Japanese manga booklets for "Akira". Also some nice Japanese paintings...

Headphone-wise, how about Audiotechnica's, shouldn't they cost less in Japan?

Can't wait to hear the Omega II's, I got to touch them the other night but without the Blue Hawaii to drive them it just wasn't the same. The Accuphase was a truly remarkable source and I haven't even gotten to hear it with SACD yet.

not to thread jack (again)... but no. PYROTAK should go to the QUALIA store in Osaka or Tokyo since I wasn't able to hear the finalized 010.
