Interesting concept. I wonder how the sound would be compared to high-end portable amps like the Meier Stepdance or iBasso line. Sure beats them on convenience if you use a 3GS as a source like I do.

How much is this going to cost?

Oct 17, 2010 at 6:33 PM Post #4 of 43
Err, found the price: $199. At those prices I'd expect it to compete with similarly priced stand-alone units in sound quality. Adding an iPhone cradle can't add very much to the BOM cost.

>Can it be use for IPhone 4?
No, the present model is only for iPhone3GS and 3G.

We have been working on planning and developing the new model for iPhone4 and hopefully we will launch the new model around spring next year.

Yes, I was looking at this.  I just purchased a FiiO E7, but would've considered this as an option had I known about it sooner.  Interesting.

Hello.

>Curious as to wheather the opamp can be swapped?

Well…as a manufacturer we never recommend changing the built-in op-amp officially.

However you can change the op-amp with other amps technically.

Please remember that once you modified your GO-DAP, it is NOT covered under the warranty.

I've got this amp and can confirm that it works with the iPod touch 2G, though you need to cradle it more efficiently. Very cool amp/cradle. It ISN'T just an amp, that is the cool part. It has a full battery charger inside that can be used whilst playing music and a battery extender that can also be used whilst music is played. You can also plug it in to your computer and sync your iPhone/iPod touch through the GoDAP. Honestly, the 200$ is quite a deal for a battery extender, amp, sync and cradle. Overall, I'd say the sound is really geared toward Audio Technica portable headphones that have gobs (too much?) bass. But very little background noise from the output even with sensitive earphones.

Very impressed with this unit. Review forthcoming.
