So I have been at the drudgery of readin schematics,tracing out a freakin' relic from the fifties,trying to make heads or tails out of the disconnect between what the schematic says I should be seeing and what is actually in fron of me (some knucklhead "improved" it

) has meant I keep stepping off to reload my patience levels and come here to argue with a couple of folks then get back at it

anyway.I don't wear glasses to walk around but for reading have needed to for about two or three years and since they are only for readin have a habit of putting them on,taking them off,putting them on,t.........

in the process I get fingerprints on the actual lenses but i seem to have a blind spot for these and continue on until whatever "eye" the futzed up lens is over starts to actually HURT !!!!

and then i need to totally step away for a bit and rest my sore "eye" (and clean the lenses

)

Is this normal ? do others get an actual PAIN from straining to see through a lens that while seemingly is clear is in fact full of fingerprints ?

Or am I just weird

I'm always shocked at how much crud I can leave on my glasses and not notice. My prescription is bad, though so I don't have a choice. I can't go ANYWHERE without them.

When I clean them, it's like WOW, how did I not notice?!?

i'm pretty obsessive complusive about cleaning my glasses. it's pretty bad. even with my friends who wear them..i'll be like "dude, let me clean those for you." ha, it's pretty silly.

Depends what I'm doing. If I'm driving, then I don't need to clean them all day. If it's computer work, then they get cleaned a couple times a day.

Best discovery is how well the disposable lens cloths work for cleaning CD's. Rinse with water and wipe from center to outer edge. (I wouldn't recomend the pre-moisted ones. Don't know what it would do, but why chance it.)

The only times I ever get anything close to pain is after looking at a computer monitor for over ~6 hours (straight) late at night. Though even that is more related to a headache and general fatigue than actual eye pain. As far as fingerprints go, I am able to tell pretty much instantly when I've managed to get anything on the lenses. That said, I'm probably not the best person to relate to on that... I wear glasses during every hour that I'm awake, and have been for the better part of my life. They are more or less an extension of my body at this point.

Right there with ya, man, and yes, it is particularly bad when you only use your glasses for reading. Remember the Optigrab, from "The Jerk"? I need one of those

I have a pretty bad ish perscription, so I'm wearing mine all the time. Never into the shower, they just fog up. (Yep, I take hot, steamy showers

)

they tend to get pretty dirty, as I only wash them before I watch a movie. Can't stand the streaks of light dirty glasses make when watching a movie in a dark room.

I'm with ya too rickster... Sometimes I'm typing or reading (microfilm is the worst for this) and I get a pretty bad headache because my eyes keep on trying to focus on the smudges instead of the paper.

Hehe yeah, but way back before I started shaving... I fell asleep wearing them, and when I got up I didn't think anything of it hehe. Now that I shave every morning before I get in the shower, it would be rather hard as they would be staring me in the face in the mirror.
