Are you just starting out at Head-Fi? Most likely a nearly-broke high school or college student like I was the first time someone told me, "Welcome to Head-Fi. Sorry about your wallet."
I might be able to help.
I'm giving away my Yamaha DP-U50, a USB DAC with a decent headphone amp built-in. We're talking STATE OF THE ART... if you set your time machine to 1999-2001. This thing sure isn't much to look at, but you can pull USB audio from your PC, or select from one of several digital inputs. Old reviews say the integrated pre-amp is also pretty good. I can't vouch for it because I haven't used that feature since ~2004.
At any rate, if you're getting started on a tight budget and have low impedance (easy to drive) cans - and you live in/near Ann Arbor, Michigan - this is the perfect DAC/amp for you.
Why? I don't use my Yamaha anymore... it's not worth putting on eBay (shipping costs would make it worthless to sell and put maybe $10 in my pocket)... and because it works but is NOT pretty, I wouldn't feel comfortable selling it.
So if you're in the area, I'd be willing to meet somewhere (Whole Foods or Panera or whatever) to give you the DP-U50. I might even have a spare pair of old headphones lying around, if I can find them.
If this sounds up your alley, feel free to post here or PM me. Hope this old but solid gear finds a good home!
Here are some old reviews:

Finally, if you want to see what the Yamaha looks like (note: I had duct tape covering mine to block light from the display, so it has tape marks):
