That one was a quickie that I did just because some members asked about the Lite versus the V2, I don't think it belongs in the Featured Amp Reviews although some folks liked it. I am thinking of doing a Gilmore Family Reunion review that would compare the entire family since I now have the Lite, V2, V2-SE and Balanced Reference. That will have to wait until after I get the Balanced Reference review completed though. The thought of the review is the only reason I've been holding on to my Lite since I find the V2 easier to transport and carry it back and forth for use as my work headphone amp.

And it sounds great out of the box. Am using them with Grado SR80's. I was goingt to go PPA but now whatever that sounds like I dont care......as the Gilmore is just right. It is very revealing and musical at the same time. Im feeding it with a tubed DAC (Scott Nixon).

Funny, I cannot detect it anymore with the same source, same song, that actually were some of those ringing high passages of Julio Iglessias. One extra burn in night but that time it was with some bass heavy (Rob Zombie) stuff.

May be it was because of brand new Zu Pivot cable.

And bass is developing, you were absolutely right, OMG.

Now I have one major problem, I cannot do anything else when I'm listening music, and when I'm trying I just cannot concetrate even a little bit. Do not buy that amp.

It might have been the cable. I actually prefer the Gilmores over my other amplifers to work to because they have always given me an sense of drive and energy that I find unsurpassed by any other of the amplifiers I have tried so far. As you move up the line, if you do, you will find that they get more refined, but that energy and the dynamics never goes away, it actually improves though not as much as the soundstage and upper end does. I put on some tunes that are upbeat and rocking and away we gooooo....

Same here, would be upgrading from a Meta Mint.

Also, how does the Gilmore Lite compare to a PPA?

The jump from a meta mint to a gilmore will be HUGE! I didn't find my meta mint to be that impressive, so I sold it, made a PIMETA which I though was very nice. Then I caught a bad case of upgraditus, sold the PIMETA and then bought a gilmore v1 and I haven't looked back...at all! You won't either.

The jump from a PIMETA will also be pretty big. Though not as huge if you're coming from a mint. The gilmore has much more punch and is more exciting sounding than the PIMETA. It is also much more detailed with a larger soundstage.

Sorry I cannot comment on a PPA. It is on my list of things I need to hear.

Best Regards,
Dan
