Will a Gilmore Lite be a good starter amp to get to use with a pair of ATH-500's, and maybe with future upgrades to Grado SR-225's/Sennheiser HD-600's? $250 sounds resonable for my first amp... also, will it work good with my Philips source (or should I put down $70 for that Toshiba source everyone is ranting about?)

Thanks for the input!

Absolutely! It compared favorably with my V1 (before I put in the stepped attenuator), and I think it is quite a steal at its' price, and should tide you over well until you go for one of the real hardcore amps like the Grace 901. Plus the Gilmore design was made for low impedance cans like the ones you are considering (though it does a lot to wake up the high-impedance Senns IMO). I think it is a can't-miss proposition for you.

And considering how much people are liking these Toshibas, I would go pick one up now while they're avaliable and cheap, if you've got the extra $64 lying around. Jeez, I used to spend that much on one SNES game! My how times have changed.

I don't have much experience with the ATH-500s, but I will say that a Gilmore Lite and SR225 are a fantastic combination (listening to it as I write this)! However, I would suggest getting a used Gilmore Lite if don't like waiting long (and it is a long wait) for a new one ...

Cool! Looks like I'll probably be picking one of these up then...

One more thing, does the Gilmore Lite come with any interconnects or will I have to buy my own? Should I go for the expensive interconnects at first or will I be satisfied with the cheapo ones? (like maybe that Oehlbach cable?)

You'll have to buy your own. I bought silver CPU ICs from Headphile to connect it to my stock ART DI/O, which is connected to my soundcard with a Bolder Digital Cable.

Upgrade it to what? Does Headamp have another PSU that will work or is there another one I should look into?

Mr. GPalmer posted a very nice comparison review once. Too bad search doesn't work, but his conclusion that after extensive (1.5 week) burn in, they become very close.

Is there a 1/4 adapter for the Pivot Zu Cable, or can I just use the Grado 1/8 -> 1/4 adapter that came with my SR-60's? (will it create any sonic deficencies?)

Also, should I get RCA-RCA or Mini or 1/4-RCA? (for better sound quality, considering I'll be using the amp with my Philips player/the computer.)

Yeah I know this, but I was talking about the Headphile IC's.
