I'm looking for my first home amp $300 + SH max.
I have Grado SR225 and Senn HD 580. Tastes are everything from classic rock to folk to Diana Krall. No classical as yet.
Source is currently a Yamaha cdc 585 and I don't forsee an upgrade in the near future due to teens , mortgage etc.
Is there a reason not to purchase the GL as opposed to say a PPA?
Any and all thoughts are surely appreciated .

FWIW I also currently am using a Porta Corda MKll with an old Fischer pcdp. This has been my only experience with an amp.

Ok well you could get a Rega ear but it's not as good as the Gilmore. You could get something made by a member of the forum like a Mint or something but it probably wouldnt sound as good as your porta corda. Both options would be cheaper than a Gilmore Lite. But if you want the best amp for 300 or less I think it is the Gilmore hands down.
