im getting choppy audio on my Gigabyte ga ep45 ud3p with vlc, foobar and any other app i play audio on. the weird thing about it is that it doesn't discriminate by operating system. this happens in linux and windows 7.
it happens whether i use my on-board audio or my turtle beach riviera card.
can anyone help?

That's truly bizarre. The only constant factor in the problem seems to be the motherboard and other primary hardware (as I'm guessing you've tried multiple audio files/sources). Maybe you have a hardware problem? You could try testing your memory, but you should be having lots of other problems if you had bad memory. The only other constant factor would be what you're listening with (speakers, headphones). Maybe you could test them with another source?

Has anybody else confirmed to get sound working properly on that board in Linux? Are you using the correct Vista drivers for 7?

ok i tested it on linux and osx again and it isnt choppy on either. its just choppy on vista and windows 7. im using the latest/proper drivers for both audio devices. i ran a memory test for 3 passes and found no errors. does anyone else have this issue?

So I have the same board you do, running win7 and get choppy audio as well. Foobar, Itunes, WMP all have the same type problem. Im gonna try an external USB DAC/Amp combo. I also have an Audigy ZS gamer that I will try first. I will let you know what I find. BTW, I can only notice the problem using the headphone out.

Try using the drivers included on the disc that Gigabyte gives you.

Double check sound devices and drivers.

i have the ds3r and never experienced any problems with the onboard chip or usb to my external dac, but I have quality components throughout ... sometimes a bad psu or other component can have a negative downstream effect on other pieces of your gear

but how would that solve the problem of choppy sound on my turtle beach riviera card as well. they both give me choppy sound regardless of what speakers i have plugged in only in windows and not linux or leopard.
