I recently went balanced with the topping A90/D90se and Focal Clear.

Now on low gain I get to about 10am on the dial and its already getting loud. Also at zero volume i can faintly hear the music playing....so there is too much power at the moment.

Are these headphones with this set up better off going single ended to the amp?
Or do I go RCA between the dac/amp as that is 2V vs the 4V of the balanced cables.

Unless you experience channel imbalances, which may appear at low volume, you're OK. I don't think changing to single ended would improve anything. But you can try it, just change interconnects.
