Call a not for profit organization to donate your car. They will come and pick it up for free. Then they provide you with a voucher indicating the value of the car. You can then deduct the "donation" from your taxes.

Be careful w/ donating your car, you have to make sure that they do change title ownership. You don't want to get hit w/ traffic fines w/ the car you've donated because apparently they did not change ownership on the title.

If they contact you by mail asking to show up an pick it up, just tell them that this car is no longer yours, that you sold that car to "someone", which you don't know, he paid cash and left. And that the owner never came to pick it up after...
