Hello,
I don't have any ideas of what to get.The Ipod is very popular but is it really good?
I need a good music quality and enough loud to be able to hear in the subway(I think its more the headphones part?)
I listen to rock(classic,hard..).
What can you recommend for a player and headphones(I am planning to get headphones separately).

How much were you planning to spend? Have you considered an amp? For the subway you'll probably want canalphones, they're portable and isolate well.

I was looking at cowon d2. How is the sound quality ?
And for the headphones the sennheiser HD 555.
Budget around 300.
An amp i don't think i don't have much place in my pockets.

The Cowon has better sound quality than the iPods but the HD555s are openback and rather big for portables. Canal phones have come a long way, look into them. Try to get earphones with an impedance of 32ohms or less so your player can drive them effortlessly.
