New Head-Fier
Hi everyone, this is my first post
I just bought a TV to watch movies with my girlfriend, with headphones on. I also got Apple TV, but only one set of headphones can be connected to it. So I need to find another way to get sound out of the TV, which has only an optical out port.
My girlfriend will be using her Airpods, and I will be using either Bose QC 35ii or Sennheiser HD600 (already own both). I see a couple of options:
1. Bluetooth splitter (something like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07V44WM9J) to connect both Airpods and Bose from the TV optical port.
2. Airpods will be connecting to the Apple TV, and I will use a DAC to connect to the optical port, either through bluetooth for Bose or with a wire for HD600.
What do you think I should choose to get the best sound from movies? I just tested my Bose connected to Apple TV watching Avatar - it's not bad, but I wished I could get a better surround sound mode. Not sure what I need for that. Is it even possible to get a good surround sound on these headphones?
I'm thinking about getting either Sound BlasterX G6, which supposedly has a virtual surround sound mode, not sure how good that would be, or something simple like FX Audio DAC-X6.
TLDR: what do I need to get a good surround sound from an optical port on my TV to QC35ii or HD600? Why am I not getting it (good surround sound) when I connect QC35ii to the Apple TV via bluetooth?
