I searched for something on this but could't find anything.
I have to say getting a stranger to squirt blue goo deep into your ear (deep enough that it feels almost painful), then leaving you in pretty complete silence, all the time with your mouth hanging open (but not too open!) is an experience worth of a reality TV show.

Not to mention the fact that the audiologist may have done a hearing test beforehand. And may have announced that you have some mild loss at the higher frequencies, "but that's normal at your age". Thanks doc, do you know how much I'm paying for that flat frequency response! That bit I can't hear is expensive.

And don't even get me starting on getting your ears syringed. Some people can produce a lot of ear wax, and if that stuff builds up...it can have an interesting effect on a percieved frequency curve.

Ha ha ha... sounds like a rather odd experience... one which I may be going through sometime very soon, as the JH13's are calling I think.....

Now just to find a good audiologist in St. Louis!
