Just have a general question. I just got a Marantz model 50 Integrated amp for my vinyl setup. I tried it today with a old set of ok quality headphones I had laying around and it was not that bad. Not shore on the quality of the headphone section on the Marantz 50 and if it could drive a decent set of headphones. I'm wondering since the model 50 has preamp outputs. Could i use it with a headphone amp. Asking because I was hoping to keep both my speakers and headphones hooked up and use the built in phono preamp in the model 50.

Generally headphone amps are better impedance matched for headphones giving cleaner sound on those. Where integrated speaker amps derive the headphone out from the speaker output using resistor attenuation.

Yes I would think that you can use it as a preamp for a headphone amp if it has preamp outs. I use a preamp with one of my headphone amps.
