I'm currious as to whether anyone here has experience with the Portable Headphone Amp sold by a guy name Gary over on ebay. He's apparently sold a few hundred of them and not a negative word to be found over there. Wondering if anyone here has used it and, if so, would care to offer an opinion.

Thanks!

Yeah. It sucks.

lol. Actually, it isn't TOO bad, but a CMOY definately smokes it good. The amp is good if you want louder volume, but I've heard that it can't even drive HD-580s all that well. It is pretty good for what your paying; definately better than that Ratshack Boostaroo hunk-o-junk.

I plan on ripping the op-amp out of mine and turning it into a pseudo-CMOY.

...it drives my AKG 501s just fine via a PCDP. It's a decent choice for an inexpensive portable amp (very small) but does not provide the texture or drive capabilities of, say, the bigger Headroom portables or my own SXH-1. I've used it for a while now though and it's certainly not a piece of junk -- though mine is the version 2, which has signifcantly higher output and some upgraded circuitry.
