Look into the Ultrasone HFI 2400 also.  It's open back and has decent bass for music too.

I'm going to go ahead and shat on the 880s for competitive gaming. I spent time last night comparing it with the q701 using the binaural matchbox shaking clip at the virtual barber.

880: rear = center/higher up
Q701: rear = rear

The sound seems to pass through my head rather than around it. The difference is quite unsettling if u think about how often one gets snuck up on in a shooter. :/
