Hello guys, got a Samsung s3 UK version and when connecting to my Onkyo hifi via the 3.5mm aux the sound is so low its unbelievable. There's no bass or anything. Av to turn the hifi near all the way up but then it starts distorting etc. I've read that the headphone output is being restricted because of EU regulations.
I've been trying to figure out how to get sound from the USB instead. Cause I know jelly bean supports this. But I'm having a hard time on how to do it. My Onkyo USB is made for ipods and flash drives so won't recognise the s3. Then I was thinking about going from USB to SPDIF. There is a little converter I have seen in a shop by mine. I'll post link to this.

My Onkyo has built in wolfosen DAC through optical and coaxial so If that device worked to transmit the audio to the optical that would be perfect. Thanks

It may work.

There is a list of USB DAC reportedly working with the Galaxy S3:

Some USB DAC (Asus Xonar U3, Behringer UCA202, Behringer UCA222, Turtle Beach Audio Advantage Micro II, …) of this list have an optical output.

Samsung Galaxy S3 > digital USB audio stream >> USB OTG cable >> Asus Xonar U3, Behringer UCA202, Behringer UCA222 or Turtle Beach Audio Advantage Micro II > digital SPDIF audio stream >> SPDIF cable >> SPDIF DAC/amp >> speakers

@DanBa

Hi
You report in several thread the possibility for :
Android >> Asus Xonar U3 >> digital SPDIF

I am trying to do this with :
Samsung SMT520 >> Asus Xonar U3 >> digital SPDIF >> Berhinger MS40

No success so far ...
Are there details I should now to achieve this ?

Looking forward to read from you.

Samsung Galaxy S3 > digital USB audio stream >> USB OTG cable >> Asus Xonar U3, Behringer UCA202, Behringer UCA222 or Turtle Beach Audio Advantage Micro II > digital SPDIF audio stream >> SPDIF cable >> SPDIF DAC/amp >>speakers

is not

Android >> Asus Xonar U3 >> digital SPDIF”.

Anyway,

replace "HRT microStreamer" by “Asus Xonar 3" and "HTC One M7" by "Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 SM-T520".

@DanBa

Thank you for reply.

I did you checklist.

music file >> stock music player (or YouTube) running on Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 SM-T520 >> USB OTG adapter + regular USB cable >>Asus Xonar 3 USB DAC/amp >> headphones

Works.
But if I replace 3.5 analog with TOSLINK adapter, SPDIF don't starts.

I believe Asus Xonar 3 expects some sort of trigger to switch on SPDIF and PCM.
This can be done in Window using Xonar U3 Audio Center, but si not persistent . But there is no Android Xonar U3 Audio Center App for that :frowning2:

It has been reported here too : http://askubuntu.com/questions/104697/is-the-asus-xonar-u3-supported

Have someone actualy been able to get PCM SPDIF out of Asus Xonar U3 from an Android device ?
