I'm new to amps in general, but have had a three now. I recently received Ray's Thawk and enjoy it immensely. It's truely more than a step up from what I've had in the past. That being said, I have question that I'm sure is very basic. It has a low and high gain setting. I've read previously that the low is a gain of +1 and the high is a gain of +4. What does this mean? How does it effect the SQ? Should I always use the low gain setting on IEM's?

Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

The amp will be quieter in low gain mode. So if you can get enough volume from your headphones, use low gain mode. It will also give you more "play" on the volume control.

Mrarroyo, I was counting on you to weigh in. Thanks very much.
