Well i took my ipod to the service center because it keeps pausing and the left channel cuts out sometimes

They kept it for 3 weeks, when i rung up at the end of 2 weeks they said 'we have no technicians on site, waiting for temporary technicians'
I rung them up, they said it's ready and guess what?
It's my old ipod, with nothing done to it.. The guy just shrugged and said there's nothing wrong with it

I got home, listened to my pausing ipod for a while and left it alone, when i got back the left channel is completely gone.
I'm furious because it took them so long, while actually doing nothing to it

I'll ring up apple tommorow then send it directly to them. Lets see if they're any different

BTW, i've got applecare extra 1 year warranty..

Send 'em straight to the official service centre by having Apple arrange a home-pickup. Register online, register your ipod and request service.

I've had to do that on 3 separate occasions already

My warranty on my 4G runs out next year, but I'm not sure whether they'll still have 4G by then...

yeah, that sucks. if you can, go to an apple store and get an appointment at the genius bar. if they find something wrong with your ipod they will give you a replacement on the spot (either new or refurbished)...just make sure your music is backed up. good luck.

edit: oops, just noticed that you're in melbourne...are there any apple stores nearby? if so, do they have genius bars there?

you'll find this logo in the way way back of any apple store, and there will be an Mac specialist who will handle any questions that you have on apple products and handling exchanges.

If you are taking your iPod to the genius good luck.
The genius in Glendale Galleria, CA believes that hiss is a feature.
He seemed to believe that sound quality had nothing to do with iPod as a product.

As much of an incorrigible Apple fanboy I am, this thread is hilarious.

Also, yes, on the occasions in which my iPod has failed me, I take it straight to the genius bar. Funny though, because the geniuses at my local Apple store are all really great, and one time I ruined the dock by accident, and the guy was just like "whatever, you come in here a lot" and gave me a new one.

The time crApple makes something that doesn't suck is the day they make a vaccuum.

I do like Apple though. Their products are nice but their lockage of you into their market is rough.

Rung up apple today
It took a while (30 mins conversation) because she was convinced that the service center is always right
rolleyes.gif

Well in the end she told me to print off this sheet that i took to the post office and they'd pack and send it off, i didn't have to pay for anything

She said it'd take around 10 bussiness days.. Lets see if apple itself is any different
