Hi,

This may seem like an odd question... but I have a Acer 17" monitor with some built in cheesy speakers... Im guessing their either 8 or 16 ohm.

I decided to goof around and I hooked it up to my headphone rig and powered them via my G-lite...

Is this a bad idea to have such a low impedance connected to my lite?

I found some specs for the internal speakers, there 1.5W, but still cant find anything on the impedance....

that's an interesting pre-amp you got there. the glite is designed to even take the very small impedances of the IEMs (i've tried this), so i see nothing wrong with connecting your monitors to it.

only reason for my concern is that it might fry something... If i recall from my car audio days, i know certain sub amps could handle 2-4 ohms, but not always1 ohm The higher quality ones were 1 ohm stable. I know this is a huge difference than 8-16 ohms so i suppose im safe.

hm.. point taken.. it's kinda like amping an ipod via the headphone jack vs. line out.

I kinda wanna see if i can take my monitor apart so i can disconnect them from their internal amp, or just use a line out or something. Im also thinking about putting some "nice" 1" speakers in there... lol...
