I just came back from London HiFi show and I just saw a prototype Furutech USB 24/96 DAC/ headphone amp. This is a prototype but should be out soon. Price is unconfirmed at this stage but pure guessimate (so don't blame me if it is wrong) is around £500. Built & part quality is good, but I haven't tried it out so don't know how it sounds.

Yup, Furutech the connectors, cable etc maker. Sorry my bad on poor quality photos - useless mobile phone, time to go!

DarKu - I have no idea what it sounded like unfortunately; don't have headphone, laptop etc with me so didn't bother to ask. However, the things seems solid and it is doubtful Chinese knockoff would be using Furutech plugs, wires etc though.

I will try link the supplier in on this and see if I could get a bit more tec detail from him.

Got a bit of information from Stereophile which said it should cost about $450 and that it has a built in phone stage as well according to them:

I hope it will be good, but i have big doubts.

It doesn't look anything like a Travagan's.

One is wide with a metallic finish while the other is long with a matte black finish and a colorful volume knob.

It's like you're purposefully not making any damn sense.

EDIT: I'll give you one thing, the one who designed that hideous volume knob should be fired.

It looks like theese: Firestone Audio Europe
and theese: http://www.travagans.com/products/p1.htm
I will not be surprised if GT40 is also made as an OEM product by theese companies.
DAC + HP Amp + Phono Stage at 450$ sounds cheezy to me, good luck to all who is interested in it

I bet it is op-amp bassed, with a crappy power supply and a entry level DAC chip. Don't get me wrong i love furutech jacks and plugs, they are the best ones, but this thing it is just fail to me, it doesn't deserve to have a furutech name on it.

DarKu - To me the GT40 looks better than those you mentioned above. Hopefully someone will try one out soon and let us know how it compares to similarly priced products - clearly at $450 noone would expect a world beater here....

Nobody has mentioned this device in either thread since March, did anyone ever pick one of these up?

The GT40 is like a Swiss Army Knife with all of its functions but it can't do everything lol.
