I still do not here the hiss. I am wondering if one of my components in my system adds a bit of dither to eliminate it without me knowing what it is doing internally?

Does anyone who has a Lavry DA10 hear the hiss? Just a thought thrown out into the ether.

More than anything else, some of these samples (I tried the Berlioz and the Daphnis & Cloe) tell that there has been real progress in recording technology. To my ears these samples just do not sound particularly good. The are both hissy, harsh and severely distorted.

The remastered (and the original, AFAICR) D&C by Dutoit (recorded in the dreaded early digital) sounds way better than the sample here.
