Many reviewers of the Fubar III mention op-amp replacements to improve the sound quality. Is this hard for the user to do? Does it require soldering?? Thanks.

Not really, atleast on the Fubar I am sure its just a matter of opening up the DAC and replacing the IC with a suitable IC of choice (using a tweezer is usually helpful!). No soldering necessary.
