I just got a multifunction control panel that has a headphone jack and I was wondering if using it would degrade the sound quality from my AV-710 card? The jack has a cable that runs through and out the back of the case and plugs into the speaker port of the card so its basically an extension cable. I don't think this should affect sound quality but am not sure. Thanks.

The only consideration is how much the signal is changed by the connecting wire, and how much the innards of your computer mess with the signal.

Worth a try, but the audiophiles out there won't think much of it. Test for yourself, listen to your card straight out the back, then hook the extension up and see if there is enough difference to matter to YOU, over the convenience of the front connector.
