I was wondering what 'phones should I get now, my 555 have gotten dusty and its time to get new 'phones. I was thinking of getting HD 600(Maybe 650) or Denon D2000. I just ordered Auzentech Bravura soundcard which has headphone amp, so what 'phones do you recommend?
I listen to "techno", drum'n'bass and trance. And I watch lot of Movies/Series with headphones so wide soundstage is preferred.

I don't know anything about your sound card, but I also upgraded from the HD555 a long while ago, and got the HD650. I use the HD650 for movies as well.

I just got a pair of D2000's and I really like them. I use them mainly for trance and dnb. They sound good coming from my computer's 'wonderful' integrated soundcard. The main reason I bought them was that they are easy to drive and I can upgrade with an amp or mods in the future.
What's your budget?

Well something like 250€ would be ideal. (D2000/HD600 price atm) +100€ to that MAX. (HD650) So like 350€, but cheaper the better.

How do you want it to sound?
Imo, the Denon would be the opposite of your HD555 in terms of balance. ("goodbye, mids"

If I were you I'd dust my 555s off, do the "foam mod" to turn them into 595s and live happily ever after.

x2 to this, Senn 600 and up need a fair bit of juice behind them to sound their best.

Heh, I just did that. (If you mean taking the foam out of the cups blocking air) To be honest I did not regocnize that much improvement, only a minor bass boost. (The reason for this could be that I have cold and my ears are blocked 24/7 atm.)

@Mr Joboto & T0N9
Well, Auzen Bravura HAS an amp which can run headphones up to 600 ohms.

get the DENON if you ask me. they will be no less that a revelation to you for your music preferences. I moved from HD595 to D5000 and this has changed my whole music experience in 180 degrees.

don't know about the 555, but the HD600/650 (which i also have) is better than the HD595 for sure, but only in terms of refinement...there is not a night and day difference in sound, at least from my experience. the denons are totally another world and another league if you are asking me.

Gee, it's just a stab in the dark but you're right, it could be that.

Do nothing until your ears unblock.
