Well, one of my friends is looking for some cheap $30-$50 phones. Basicly, I want to make sure he gets the best sound possible. Friends don't let friends buy crappy headphones.

Any suggestions are welcome, but he wants street styles particularly (god forbid)

Also, if you want, you can post your arguments on why he shouldn't get street styles...

(35 bucks at amazon i think, 50 retail.)

Of course, I am by no stretch of the imagination a cultured audiophile.

Sony MDR-G74SL. not bad as a pair of street style.

Koss KSC-55 street style costs $20 bucks at Compusa and most other places. and sound fantastic. They are highly recomended around here.

I recommended each of those, he said he didn't want earbuds, he said he didnd't like the sonys (folding or somthing) and the ksc55, he said he would think about it.

the sony g74 is pretty good. its sounds a tad nasal though. but it is clear overall.

Because KSC75 ear-clips are more portable and supposedly sound better than KSC55s.

KSC75s all the way.
