After discovering the music of Alizee, I am now fascinated with the French language!

Recommend me some female French singers. Pop/vocalist. Popular stuff.

thanks!

Give this thread a try.

If you like Alizee's first 2 albums you have to check out Mylene Farmer.

I also like Natasha St. Pier and Chimene Badi.

the thread in reference is very good. I just point out it is "mostly" singers from France.

Quebec,Canada, produces some of the most progressive and quality singers, with the most contemporary influence.

My personal liking is more towards non-vocal music, but you can check for:

France D'Amour
Celine Dion
Isabelle Boulay
Natasha St Pier
Florence K
and the list goes on...

regards,

Alizee is typical of what I call "Lolita Pop". Other members of the trade include Vanessa Paradis and (if you want hard-edged electronics) Emilie Simon.

So, did Alizee turn you off of the French language or have you become so infatuated with her singing all other French singers sound like garbage? I can read your post both ways. Anyways, the only French music I listen to is Paris Combo which has a pretty good singer. Give the album "Living Room" a try if interested.

oopppsss...how did I end up writing that....

Correction

I am now fascinated with the French language. I typed not instead of now.

I love Alizee's first two albums. Bought all three yesterday. Cost me an arm and a leg. $25 ish each. Not very fond of the 3rd album though. The music is totally different for some reason.

when did the third one come out? Any news of a fourth album?

The reason being that the songs from the first two albums were produced/written by Mylene Farmer and Laurent Boutonnat, and the ones on the third album were not.

See this Wikipedia article...

Interesting. Was there a reason that Alizee and MF split up or was it just because Alizee was established enough to make her own music
