Hi all, this is my first post in a discussion forum on HF of sorts, and I need help from people in the know. I bought the $28 cmoy starter kit from fred_fred's ebay and am assembling it at the moment.
Assumptions I made:
- the resistors are what I think correctly placed and directions of coloured stripes follow fred freds instructions
- the electrolytics were both the same and, as there were no polarity indicators on my board I assumed my board was the same as the one in the instructions and installed them that way
- lf353 opamp has the little circle end pointing towards the volume switch
Problems:
- plugged into a source and all I hear is white noise which is quite loud even when source volume is low
- when wired in a 18v way (which I did before but switched back to the 9v method) a part of the board starts smoking up (shown in pics below)
Can anyone figure out what my problem might be?
