The greatest country guitarists were Chet Atkins, Merle Travis, Buck Owens and Joe Maphis. They pretty much wrote the book. They weren't bad boys. They were the real deal.

See ya

Sorry for raking up a old thread...but i couldnt help but offer a few of the CDs that ive been listening to.

Camera Obscura - Underachievers please try harder - Melodic Guitar/Vocals sun-drenched pop. Effortlessly addictive.

Rachel Yamagata - Happenstance - Huskier Norah Jones? u got it! oh yeah. Her songs are easier listening too.

Dream Theatre - Live at Budokan - 3cd/2 DVD set. Shows you why Dream Theatre is so DAMN GOOD.

DragonForce - Valley of the Damned - Hey, what's wrong with a little power metal?

for the rocker in you, may i suggest some fear factory, obsolete, digimortal, and or archetype, their older stuff is more electronic if that's more your cup of tea, and as far as the hip hop goes, Dr. Octagon, octagonacology is a very cool, not as well known as it should be piece of work that you should check out (seriously crazy spinning) Enjoy

I highly recommend:

James Taylor - Sweet Baby James

and since we seem to be in a funk defacit...

Funkadelic - One Nation Under a Groove
Parliament - Mothership Connection

Right now my stand out recording CD's seem to be:

Jan Garbarek - :rarum (ECM release)
Badly Drawn Boy - Hour of the Bewilderbeast
Bela Fleck - Flight of the Cosmic Hippo
Michael Jackson - Thriller, Off the Wall, & Bad reissues

This may change when my high quality source finally arrives.

If people are interested in great recordings they may want to check out Mapleshade Records. I plan on buying a few when my source arrives, I just wish the MP3's wouldn't garble when they reach my PC.

Just buy the best of everything. Then if you want to upgrade, the realization hits you that you cant, and you go back to working on your music collection.

First, though, ask your boss for a $50,000 raise.
