Fostex TH900 MkII

@BogdanUK Actually arrived at this solution myself perhaps a year or so ago haha. Don't do it. The padding is so generous you'll have to wear the headband on full extension. If you have a larger than smallish head, you're out of luck. After experimenting with the padding from the HD 650 and 600 I eventually came to the conclusion that no padding is the most comfortable. The TH900 are so light and the bare headband is wider than any padding I tried so it distributes the weight the most evenly across my head. I noticed hotspots from the padding alternatives after a while. The best solution would be if we could get our hands on the recently released TH1100/1000RP headband assembly as that incorporates a suspension strap. No clue whether it's available to purchase, though.

As for expectations of the bass with these, it's the sub-bass that earns these their reputation and not the mid-bass. I've not experienced any other headphones that can do what these do in its heft and rumble. Disregard whether this is your type of music or not, but give the track Aliens by Luke Lambert a listen and you should see what I mean at the 30 second mark.

Hi!, I am in my search of a closed back of my liking and I am curious now about the TH900 with the Lawton mod. Applying the drivers modification should decrease the sensitivity below 100db?

I own those, but can’t say anything scientific, as I don’t measure it. Even after mod, those are still quite sensitive.

Hi again,

I imagine this has probably been asked before, but I would appreciate some help if someone used any medium-range FiiO DAC amps with the Fostex and if they match well. Looking currently for a more musical, warm signature DAC amp as I have sent back the iFi Zen DAC V3 that just wasn't a good match, and in my opinion is was sounding worse than its previous brother V2.
I am interested in either FiiO K9 MKV or xDuoo TA-22 hybrid tube amp or Fostex HP-A8 or any other better solution that I can get in the UK within a £500 budget if possible :)
Thank you!

Try FIIO BTR3K.
SE sounds more musical then balanced output, but you should try both

Hello to every one. I like EDM, deep house music with nice punchy bass. Making some upgrade from my current Focal Radiance to Fostex TH-900 MK2. What are the best portables DAC/Amp from which i for sure will get warm sound with punchy bass? I want to get all the juice from those headphones))
