Right... and I'm saying I disagree with that.

Analogies... Things don't have to be exactly equal for comparisons to be made, otherwise they would be called "equations".

fine but using "better" in that way is allowed here - obviously

i know what they are. i just find it a curious choice but it's a popular analogy nonetheless, which makes it kinda endearing.

What's better for me is sitting out on my patio with my Hugo and th900 listening to some jazz and marvelling at the bass slap and percussion hits. After a long winter this is a topper, and sipping some iced tea to boot. Real tea not the sugar kind.
Oh ya drive a 2003 vehicle with 287000 k on it, how else can I afford this stuff and not work.

Haha, my car sucks too. But damn, that's a LOT of miles. Must be a good car (what kind?)

But yet I own a TH900 and D7000! Headphones are so much more worth it than a flashy car

Not a big car guy, I'm rocking a '97 Toyota Starlet. Guess I'll go to Germany and pick up a used Mercedes when I'll land a steady job.

Every time I listen to the TH900 I always feel they deserve a better setup. Hopefully I can make it happen this year.

well whats your setup? or is this a rhetorical statement.

Question: I am currently driving the TH-900 using hm901 s as dac -> WA7 as amp. I am planning to upgrade the WA 7. Which would be better?

1. WA 6 SE
2. WA 2
3. bakoon HDA - 5210
4. bakoon HDA - 5520
5. Zana deux

the wa2 is an otl amp and a more suitable match for high impedance cans so you might want to take that one off your list.

your current rig looks fine to me. the wa7 has more than enough power to drive the th900 and it has a dac built in. the hm901 dap should drive the th900 with ease on its own. why do you want to "upgrade"?

All portable beside one, maratnz HD DAC 1. I do have nice portable gears like Chrord Hugo but th900 as far more to offer.

The TH900 doesn't need much to sound good but indeed it does scale with better gear though not as much as a HD800 for example does.
The HD-Dac1 is a nice start though but if you want to get top quality for a dime get a nice little vintage receiver from the 70s. A real eye-opener.

I had the Bakoon 5210 mk3 and found it way too powerful for low impedance cans.
Zana is the best amp I ever had for any headphone I ever tried it with.

To improve the th900 sq even further. Imo wa 7's build in dac is only decent at best. I prefer using hm901 dac over the build in dac. And i heard that th900 paired the best with either zana or bakoon so i am interested with those amp for " upgrade"
