Fostex TH900 Impressions & Discussion Thread

I still get the recessed mids, but that, as you say, might have to do with the amp I'm using. But the Grace m9xx definitely tames the highs on the TH-900, while still keeping the details and instrument separation. No complaints at all with the highs coming from the Grace m9xx.

What really initially drew me to the TH-900 was just this smooth and coherent sound signature. With Sennheisers, all the sounds are arranged "neatly", at the cost of sounding somewhat artificial. With AKGs (at least the K701), the sound signature is indeed quite fun and exciting, but kind of messy and all over the place. But there was just something smooth about the TH-900 that I really liked, and found goes really well with vocal pop music (what I mostly listen to).

Speaking of which... yes, I still do think the mids are recessed on the TH-900, BUT... for some reason vocals still sound fine. The vocals are still present and very clear, and not at all muffled or pushed aside. And that's why I think it still works really well with vocal pop music.

i use this EQ with my th900 for the last week .. and its doing a nice job for me .. try it ..

I use a Pelican case with my mk1.  Here is a post from 2015 about it.

I tried the Mr. Speakers case that comes with the ether and th900 fits perfectly. Mine has Lawton wood chambers which are thicker. The case is 50.00 and as compact as it can be while still big enough to fit. It's rugged too.

Yes that's what i was looking for ,, thaanks a lot ..

sounds a bit extreme

Got two songs for you m8.

And if it's more than words.  Well then it would be Extreme wouldn't it?

But on a serious note, burn-in-or-not, @MAURO16164 I do agree that the TH900 does take some time to get used to, especially if coming from something like an HD800 or T1.  Simply a different beast.
