I did try pre-ordering thru the Fostex Japan website but wouldnt accept my Amazon pay as its outside the region. And google translate for normal payment was too much hassle because couldnt decode pages because locked during checkout process. Ill just wait until NA distribution begins.
I use proxy shopping when getting anything that's JP domestic only. Haven't tried with pre-orders but it should be the same process, proxy gets the item/s and ships. Payments done thru paypal.

That wiring diagram, are these wired for balanced out of the box?
Fostex T50RP mk4 support balanced connection out of the box.
For a balanced connection you need a balanced cable (pinout is the same as for T60RP).
The headphones come standard with 1 unbalanced cable:
φ3.5 mm (4-pole) ⇔ φ 3.5 mm (3-pole) stereo phone cable (2 m) x 1, φ3.5 mm → φ6.3 mm stereo phone conversion connector x 1

Some very positive impressions of the Mk4 from the 2024 spring Tokyo Headphone Festival:

The Spring Headphone Festival 2024, sponsored by FujiyaAbic, was held on April 27. The event was held at 5th and 6th floors of Station Conference Tokyo.
...
At Fostex, the T50RP mk4, the successor to the 20-year-old T50RP mk3, was on display. The T50RP mk4 has not attracted much attention because of its modest name change, but in fact, I think it was the dark horse of the event. The T50RP mk4 is a completely new model with a new coil pattern layout and the latest technology.
Comparing the T50RP mk3 and T50RP mk4, the T50RP mk3 has a dark sound with low efficiency, like old planar headphones, while the T50RP mk4 has a surprisingly high efficiency and sounds excellent. Priced at 35,000 yen, the T50RP mk4 is good for users who want a low-priced planar headphone.

Hello @tony tanaka !

Foster is an oem for Fostex? Do you know an approximate timeline for when T50RPmk4 will become available to the rest of the world? Any more amazing headphones or iterations on T50RPmk4 down the pipeline that you can tell us about?

So you got them on sale, several months after launch... I'd imagine if you can wait until say this fall, you'll find Mk4's marked down too.

Doesn't change the fact launch MSRPs are very nearly identical when adjusted for inflation (that with a whole new driver design to boot!).

I’m glad I never got the last version.
