I found your DT990 and its treble boost to be brighter overall than the DT660.

I agree. The DT990 is significantly more boosted, to give it it's very significant U shape freq response. The DT660, with more bass ~200Hz maybe up above the mids by about 1-2dB, instead of recessing down below the mids would really be great.

The sound of the mids and highs are similar to me (if you can mentally remove the boost). It doesn't surprise me, as it may be a similar driver with less Z movement.

I thought the Beyer line started at the 770... when did the 660 first come out?

They started with the DT48, in the 30's.

DT100 is a good studio monitoring 'phone, or so i hear. DT250 is good too.

The product line really is all over the map - they mostly get recognized for the 770/880/990 - of which, fwiw, the first was the DT880 in 1980.

Edit: the discontinued DT531 gets some recognition here, too.

Of the 3 closed cans that you have, how would you rate the isolation? I'm looking for a isolating closed can to give my ear canals an occasional break from IEMs.

I have a small head so the isolation is pretty much all the same. I had the HD280 for a while, definately the most isolating full size I've heard. But mostly due to it's strong clamp, most people on the forums can't stand it.

Um, post that question in a new thread with more detail on what you're looking for.

I meant the current high(er) end line.

Yep. DT100 and DT250 are current higher-end products.

The DT100 and DT250/80 cost about as much as a DT770. The DT250/250 costs more.

They're just rarely mentioned on head-fi.
