Hi all!

I would be grateful for some advice.
I am based in UK.

My background in computing is somewhat limited experience wise.
I have a degree in computer science and have done some technical
support of Microsoft products in a network environment.
Recently I have been getting into web site design / programming and
find that it is quite stimulating as a hobby/pass time to get me into
"hardcore" I.T.

I am considering doing a Microsoft Certification for the long term.
I want to steer away from Technical Support because it is a real headache,
it's not something I enjoy.

I am quite interested in databases such as Access, SQL etc. I'm not too
sure how hard the later will be but I will be studying privately as opposed
to enrolling in a MS training centre.

I have had a look at the various certifications possible via Microsoft and
it seems my interest falls slap bang in between : MCDBA & MCSD & MCAD

I would be grateful for any advice from fellow head-fi enthusiasts re :

- What is in demand now and the next 2-3yrs? I feel the market maybe
saturated with MCSE people who are all doing support/software integration.
If there is a gap in the market for mcdba's in UK/Canada/USA I feel that
might be the way to go.And what salary can I expect?

- I do have quite a lot of interest in web design, so if I could develop my
database skills parallel to substantial(not just html) skills that maybe
in demand like .net this is where the MCSD/MCAD could come in.

- How should I get certified if my interest is in all of the following
certifications.

I don't expect any of you to solve this mess!! But if you could point me
in the right direction that would be fantastic.
I'm simply looking for a career in I.T in UK/Canada or USA which will be
in demand for a few years to come and provide a good salary.
And a method by which to learn all this in the most speedy way
12-18months.
What tools will i require? MS Windows 2000 server? or will XP Pro do?
How good are teaching video cd's? Which ones do you recommend?

Thanks in advance,
Yasmin
