I am looking for good quality sound from both mic and earphones, for talking with others on Skype. Will headphones and an add-on mic like the V-Moda provide better sound quality than Skype headsets such as Microsoft LifeChat, etc?

I'm not sure about quality, but I use K7XXs with an Antlion ModMic attached for my Skype/Discord chats and I find it so convenient that there's really no need to have a headset. The microphone recording is perfectly fine if all you're doing is chatting, and added bonus of choosing your own set of headphones seals the deal for me.

Soundmagic's E10M can be useful for skype. The mic isn't too good though...
