Just wondering, is there a market for headphones (most likely circumaural at first) that are easily customizable? Everything from the drivers to the headband are interchangeable and can be upgraded. The cups can be changed out for different sonic qualities or aesthetics. Would people buy it?  Someone from the Houston Audio Society suggested asking here.  I know I see custom grado modders, but I was thinking on a mass scale.  If there someone who does that already, that'll be cool.

V-moda has already done this with their M100. It has a small port that can be plugged in order to change SQ

Various IEM's do this aswell, such as the Meelectronics sp51.

Great idea on paper, was pursuing this for some time previously.

However at the end of the day nobody will bat an eye. Mostly because 90% of people buy Sub-$20 headphones in this day and age. If you can't compete at that price range it'll be very difficult to turn a profit without some serious advertising/amazing features/great sound. The premium headphone market is a hard one to be successful in. Considering there's already headphones that come in different colors/shapes/sizes/designs that a lot of people will simply find one they like vs. build it themselves. Customizing is great, but if it doesn't come in at an appealing price then it's not going to have a large following.

It's not the most uppity answer, but it's what I found out slowly as I designed a set.
